We've got a Grand Final!

Hello everyone,

It has been a while since I've dropped a blog post, and being on the cusp of the Grand Final is, dare I say, a grand time to drop one.  The Preliminary Finals are over, and as a Cats supporter over the last 5 years, I can do little more than tip my cap to the Demons for their destruction of the Cats, and the Bulldogs heading into Adelaide and making short work of Port.  I've gone ahead and included a short highlights package of the two preliminary finals if you're interested.  (Full disclosure, these are not REAL highlights of the weekend, but the two situations depicted here sure seem to represent the games rather well.) 2021 AFL Preliminary Finals Highlights

I did drop an email to Dees President Roffey on Saturday, congratulating her on the huge win for the club.  I was told by Tony Davis, the son of Melbourne Premiership player Frank Davis, a guest, along with his son in episode 97, that I might have unwittingly become Melbourne's "good luck charm" for this year.  I can assure you that that was not something I was trying to achieve.

While I'm, of course, disappointed in the results on Friday, I am most definitely looking forward to a terrific Grand Final, with arguably the two best midfields in the comp.

I am currently quarantined at home for the forseeable near future, as I tested positive for Covid from a test I took on Thursday.  I had the Pfizer vaccine back in the Spring here in the U.S.  Fortunately, other than two days of alternating between sweating profusely and shivering like I was in a freezer, it has been fairly mild.  I've still got a pretty nice cough (Love ya, Ricola!), but other than that, I feel pretty good.  Some of you may have seen that a few weeks ago I also had a bit of a high blood pressure scare.  That is very much under control now.  I appreciate each of you who reached out to me about that.

Now, here is where I'd love some help from you.  How can you help?

1:  If you're a Dees or Bulldogs supporter (or even if you're not), I'd love it if you could drop me a voicemail here on the website, ayankonthefooty.com telling me about your "fandom" and how you see the Grand Final going next week.  Make sure you tell me who you are, and where you're from when leaving the voicemail.

2.  I'm hoping to sit down and conduct a few interviews with Bulldogs and Demons supporters this week, as we march towards the hoisting of the cup.  If you'd be interested in coming on the podcast for a chat, I'd love to talk with you this week.  You can fill out the "register as a guest" tab at the top of the website.

I am thrilled that more and more of you who are deciding upon getting the vaccine shots are getting the opportunity to do so.  I hope that everyone takes care of themselves, and don't forget to reach out to your friends and family who may still be isolated away in lockdown.  It isn't something that I'm excited about, but I'm getting my own taste of it, as my wife has secluded herself away in other part of the house while I'm still able to spread Covid.

Looking forward to talking with some of you very soon.  Just as excited as I am to hear your predictions about the game.

Cheers,

Craig
